My name is Sanoe Wildgrube. I am a filmmaker from Philadelphia, PA. I am currently a junior majoring in film at the Syracuse University School of Visual and Performing Arts, and I am expected to graduate in May of 2027. From a young age, I used movies and TV shows to escape the anxieties of life. When I realized I could make my own films telling stories and creating new and exciting immersive worlds, I knew that was what I wanted to do for my professional career.
I love development and production because they allow me to bring my ideas to life. I thrive on collaboration and problem-solving. I have worked on many different types of productions, including student films, commercials, live sports broadcasts, and feature shows. I worked as a production assistant on several Wawa commercials. Being on a professional set allowed me to learn how everything runs and observe set dynamics. I also worked as a production assistant on multiple preseason Eagles games. This was an enjoyable job for me as I have been a lifelong Eagles fan. Go birds! I also love seeing how live television and sports broadcasting run. It gave me a taste of another world in the film industry. I love all aspects of film, but my favorite roles are in the directing and camera departments.
I have had the privilege of working on many student productions and had the opportunity to direct and produce a few films of my own. My most recent film was called Embrace, and it is about a dancer who is afraid of physical touch due to trauma from her past. It was made during my study abroad semester, when I studied at FAMU, a film school in Prague. This film was shot on 35mm and was an absolute blast to make. I grew up a dancer, so not only did I co-direct this film, but I also arranged all of the choreography. It was an exceptional project that combined two of my passions: filmmaking and dance. I also recently directed a film titled Broken Glass, about a group of friends who explore an abandoned house and get locked in the basement when they realize one of their friends is missing. This was a super fun and dramatic film that really let me explore the possibilities of my creativity. Aside from directing, I have held multiple first and second assistant camera roles. Two of these were filmed on 35mm, allowing me to deepen my knowledge of camera operation.
I want to grow more as a filmmaker and a creator. I love film production and am so excited to continue working on more amazing projects. Known for my upbeat and bubbly spirit, I make sure to bring that energy to every project I work on because great vibes create great films.
